Balkan Documentary Distribution Network
The Balkan Documentary Distribution Network (BDDN) is an informal network of civil society organizations, festivals and distribution houses from the Balkans created with the intention to articulate and unite regional initiatives in the field of education, creation and distribution of creative documentary films.
BDDN aims to:
– strengthen the regional networking and exchange in the field of production and distribution of creative documentary films;
– influence cinema development in the region by introducing alternative screening places and films with strong individual vision and authorship;
– raise regional awareness and stimulate public debate of important social issues
DOKUVISION is the first project of the Balkan Documentary Distribution Network. It is envisioned to provide for cultural bonding and regional exchange of knowledge and experience as well as for cooperation and education through five synchronized screenings of creative documentary films in six cities: Skopje, Prizren, Belgrade, Podgorica, Zagreb and Ljubljana.
By simultaneously bringing together spectators in both cinemas and
different public spaces in the region and by engaging them in moderated discussions through live streaming and voting, DOKUVISION builds a sustainable audience, promotes the documentary storytelling and the alternative use of public spaces, ultimately giving insight into the cultural and social equality and diversity in the region and worldwide.

DOKUVISION unites BDDN development priorities: regional cooperation and capacity building through share of knowledge and experience, sustainable regional audience building and the common objectives of all of the partners: stimulating public debate and civic participation through sharing and educating with creative documentary film.
DOKUVISION is a project that tries to combine in a unique way educational, experiential, motivational and cognitive aspects of the creative documentary films.
Finally, DOKUVISION, through the program selection process, moderated discussions and the audience votes, will hopefully give us an insight in to the differences and similarities in knowledge, understanding and attitude towards actual and important social subjects.
All of our countries belonged to one social, economical and cultural space that we all feel influenced by on a daily bases. On the other hand, all of our countries had different “independent maturation” after the breakdown of SFRJ. DOKUVISION intends to explore and address both, the social and cultural equality as well as the diversity among us and our audience.
